I'd tried this overlook at sunrise more than once and left with nothing. This morning was ordinary Rockies fall: low fifties, no wind, empty lot. I hiked out in the dark to a spot I already knew. When the sun hit the far peaks the turquoise came up and the valley stayed in shade. Easy access, no big approach. I still come back here to sit even when the camera never leaves the bag.
