We drove up in a whiteout with no plows out yet, and my friend decided to stay in the car because there was obviously no shot. I'd been here enough times to know where I wanted to stand even with the trails buried, so I walked in and waited a couple of hours in heavy snow. When the wind finally quit, the silence was so complete it felt loud. The sky opened for about five minutes and then closed again.
