We got in the evening before with a front blowing through, cold and windy and socked in, and sunset was a bust. We came back in the dark and stood on the shore a while, and you could see stars, so we figured we had a chance. The system had taken every cloud with it, which usually kills a sunrise, but it left the belt of Venus over the peaks, early alpenglow on Sinopah, and not a breath of wind on the water. What you can't see is the family of mountain goats working the cliffs off to the right.
