I scouted this area the day before and hiked back up in the dark for sunrise, hoping for alpenglow and clouds. The clouds were wrong and the picture I came for never showed, so I walked the shore in microspikes looking for something else. The sun cleared the ridge, lighting the trees from the side, and the composition that hadn't existed the day before drew me in.
