I've been to Sol Duc a lot of times and it's almost always something: crowds, pouring rain, or sun so harsh there's nothing to work with. That morning it was raining and I hiked in anyway, figuring it might lighten up. It did, the light came down through the trees, and I had the whole place to myself.
