Met friends in Zion for a week of fall color. One had a Subway permit. Another was seventy-nine and had wanted that hike his whole life but figured he was too old. I knew the route well enough, so we took him and kept the pace easy. He crushed it. Helping someone knock off a lifelong dream was the best part of the trip.
